Weekend Flea Market/Antiques Tour (Saturday, Sunday and Monday)
This is the ultimate day for those of you who love to do antique and flea markets.
Things get started early as you head as far south as one can go in Paris for an outdoor market featuring about 300 regional dealers. Collections of trinkets culled from attics around France are abundant. As they say, ‘one man’s junk is another man’s treasure’ and you’ll be able to spot both here. But with an expert guide to sort things out and help with the purchasing process in French, you’ll go home a winner.
Once you’ve got your fill in this part of town, the tour takes you as far north as one can go to the “ultimate” antiques market. Known the world over, the Marché aux puces de Saint-Ouen (literally “flea” market) is a dream destination for collectors of all manner of things. It is a dizzying collection of buildings, each specializing in a specific type and price range of antique. Each building houses hundreds of dealers which is where the dizzying part comes in. A map of the place just won’t do. Tell us ahead of time what you are looking for and your visit will be fine tuned to help you find exactly the treasure you’d like to take home with you. If, say, that Louis XIV daybed won’t fit in your suitcase, we have just the shipping company lined up to help deliver it right to your door back home.
We will stop for a bite to eat at a well known bistrot that even the Parisians choose to enjoy on weekends and spend the afternoon winding our way through all the pockets of the market so no stone is left unturned.
Our service takes you back to your hotel, visually (and occasionally physically) exhausted, perhaps lighter in the wallet but hopefully happy and successful after a day of the ultimate treasure hunt.
