Specialized guide – only available on Sunday mornings
This tour is off the charts incredible to experience! There are so many intriguing factors to discover when discussing the culture and history of the Jewish community through the ages. This tour left me silent with contemplation from all I learned and I cannot recommend it enough. You will meet your guide outside of Notre Dame and then enjoy a historical walk of the fascinating quarters of Le Marais with either a half day, full or two day tours. The access you have to visit the Museum of Jewish Life, as well as synagogues and Jewish memorials is unparalleled and very moving.
A full day Jewish Immersion Tour would incorporate lesser known neighborhoods with memorials, museums and the first synagogue built after the French Revolution. The day would also include the Marais area, Shoah and Memorial and Museum of Jewish Life.
A second day would include a morning drive out to Drancy (former detention camp north of Paris). Drancy houses a small museum run by volunteers (former prisoners). A rendez-vous can be set up in advance for this visit.
Back in Paris for lunch at an excellent kosher restaurant followed by a guided tour of the stunning (rarely frequented by tourists) Nissim de Camondo Museum.
